Originally built in 1303, Bowringsleigh is an Elizabethan building surrounded by 1,200 acres of rolling hills in West Alvington, Devon, England.

Roope Ilbert added battlements and dormer windows to the front in 1850 and he also built the 15th century style great tower. The tower's ground floor contains the chapel.

The house has the deceptive appearance of being very large, a consequence of its considerable frontage which is built so that all the rooms open into each other along the front. Behind the house is a courtyard surrounded by kitchens, servants hall, and dairy.

Bowringsleigh is set on a valley side in a park with many trees, and is hidden from view from nearby lanes. It still retains traces of its medieval origins but is substantially an Elizabethan and Jacobean house.

It is a Grade I listed building.
