Volume 11: Winter 2012-13

Volume 11 features the work of J J Stevenson, a leading Victorian designer of churches in the Gothic style for the Free Church of Scotland. His office in London attracted young Scottish architects, including James MacLaren, as well as some of his friends who have also featured in our Journals.

There is a short article on the Water Tower in Arad, Romania, designed by Dunn and Watson, MacLaren's successors, a prominent landmark which is now a cultural centre, and one about the Australian architect, Hardy Wilson, who as a young man worked with William Flockhart in London. Finally, Graham Carter, the thatcher who has worked on many of the MacLaren and Dunn and Watson cottages in Fortingall, describes his work on these iconic buildings.
